IMPORTANT - COVID-19
Dear Commerce Dorval members, co-citizens and friends,
The quick evolution and propagation of COVID-19 virus are bringing us towards living and working conditions which are, for many, a source of worry and unknown. We are undoubtedly going through an unprecedented period, but our resilience and solidarity will allow us to overcome this pandemic. We have all heard and understood all the sanitary measures and actions to be taken in a preventive way, and I won’t insist on these points.
I did want to let you know that we are in communication with the Canadian Federation of Independent Businesses and will share with you all relevant information and economic support that will be made available to small businesses and which will help us recover.
For now, I think we mostly need, more than ever, to recognize the importance of community ties which unite us all and remind you to take care of one and other. Some of our members and some of our clients may be more vulnerable and will need your support. Be alert, optimistic and empathic… this is what will define you once this episode is behind us.

It’s ESSENTIAL that you clearly communicate all preventive measures you are taking in your business to ensure your employees' and your clients' safety. You should share this information on clearly visible posters in your business, on your FB page and on your website. We’ll share all this on our own FB page and website, so more people are reached. Please tag us (@CommerceDorval) to ensure we see the post to pass it on.

- Buy Local Campaign
We will be launching a Buy Local campaign to remind everyone the importance of proximity businesses. Posters will be distributed next week.
- Between ourselves
A Facebook page (Collaboration – Commerce Dorval) is available to all our members to exchange and share information, questions and good practices. It’s a private group – you just need to ask to join. All relevant information to you will be shared on this page and by email.
- HOME DELIVERY
- Home delivery will be essential for many of you. I think most restaurants already offer such a service (with Uber Eats, Skip or similar). Non-food businesses could also benefit from such a service. For those members who do not have a delivery service, and for whom it could make sense, I spoke to Taxi Coop de l’Ouest (Commerce Dorval member) and they are ready to implement a delivery service for our members. If you are interested, please let me know ASAP! We’ll help you set it up.
- ON LINE SERVICES
Again, when it makes sense, offering your services on line (sales, classes, advice…) is very important. We’ll help you communicate what you have already in place or what you are setting up.

Display trademarks - Are you ready?
The regulation for outdoor signage is effective November 24, 2019.
If you display the signage of a trademark. only in a language other than French, you must accompany it with a generic, descriptive or a slogan in French that is as visible and readable as the brand.
Effective November 24, 2016, amendments to the Language and Business Regulations are in effect. These are intended to ensure a greater presence of French in the display of trademarks in a language other than French. All businesses in Quebec, regardless of size, are required to comply with these provisions. It is with this in mind that they must ensure the presence of French using either a generic or a description of the products or services referred to, or a slogan or any other term or mention privileging displaying information about the products and services offered.
